    Deer Creek receives $45,000 grant

    Casey’s awarded Deer Creek Community Enrichment Foundation a $45,000 grant to purchase and install door safety devices for over 1,200 doors throughout the school district as part of the 2023-24 Cash for Classrooms program.

    The Cash for Classrooms Grant Program is an annual program that offers schools an opportunity to submit a grant request for physical improvements, material needs, teacher and faculty support and community engagement opportunities for students.

    OKC local drafted to pro pickleball team

    The Indy Drivers, the professional pickleball team representing Indianapolis in the National Pickleball League (NPL), have drafted Oklahoma City local Jenny Marcos to compete on its 2024 team.

    Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes.

    Marcos will be competing in five competition event weekends, one per month, from May to September. The season comes to an end with the Championship in October.

    New state regent emeritus recognized

    The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education recognized State Regent Ann Holloway as a state regent emeritus during their meeting in April.

    Holloway, a dedicated member of the board since her appointment by Gov. Mary Fallin in 2013, followed by a reappointment for a nine-year term in May 2015, will conclude her second term on May 16.
