Continuing at the Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Hall of Fame, free Family programs are offered on special dates year-round.

Many locals visit the museum, at 1400 Classen Drive, to take part in varied activities appropriate to children pre-K through Middle School and beyond.

The facility is located in the historic Mid-Continent Life Insurance Building, an historically-significant site near the Heritage Hills neighborhood.

Family programs at Gaylord-Pickens Hall of Fame (HOF) have proven a delight to many of the McGuigan grandchildren, among thousands of others.

In the course of the summer, cordial ties among families, child care centers, schools and travelers with the caring staff are established as the weeks continue to pass.

The courtyard on the north side of the building allows space for outdoor games and certain crafts.

The Thursday program for TODAY (July 11) focused on an Art Adventure, as well as crafts such as Lego Printing. On this particular date, local artists Al Bostick, LaQuincey reed and Nichole Moan were scheduled to be on-site working with children, staff and parents/grandparents/guardians on the projects.

The Thursday summer programs continue July 18 and 25.

Each month year-round the Hall of Fame sustains the Second Saturday family activities -- with free admission and a variety of activities -- including this Sat., July 13. Note: a family-friendly museum tour will begin at 11 a.m. as part of this program. The next Saturday program will on August 8.

Metro Family Magazine designated Gaylord-Pickens HOF as a "family-friendly place to work."

Year-round events of interest to adults -- Including a 'HOPS Hall of Fame' in August.

For grown-ups, one of the popular recurring events is one devoted the Oklahoma Born & Brewed products, popularly deemed the "HOPS Hall of Fame."

This program is featuring Skydance Brewing, Roughtail Brewing (both of Oklahoma City) and Marshall Brewing of Tulsa.

The HOF 'born-and-brewed' event is scheduled for August 1.

Emily Poppe, development officer for the Gaylord-Pickens HOF, recently told Tulsa People magazine, "This year is the 10th anniversary, and we have done a collaboration signature beer for the event for many years, but this is a special one because not only are we having Oklahoma City breweries involved, but this year we have added Marshall, a Tulsa brewery, to really meet across the turnpike and show that we are a statewide organization that provides programs for the whole state."

Special for this year's event is that "collaboration" brew to which each of the companies will contribute.

The August 16 event is set for 7-10 p.m. and will unfold indoors and outdoors, with participating brewers present in the courtyard, and inside. Music, food and beer will be part of the program.
