Oklahomans might need to hold off on heavy coats and warm layers for a little longer than anticipated.

The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a warmer-than-average fall this year for Oklahoma. The publication also says the Sooner State will see below-average amounts of rain.

The Oklahoma fall forecast matches the majority of the country, with the Old Farmer's Almanac predicting warmer fall weather elsewhere.

"Your trek to the pumpkin patch may be a bit steamy this year," Almanac meteorologists Bob Smerbeck and Brian Thompson wrote in their long-range forecast. "In fact, it should be quite warm for the western half of the United States!"

The Old Farmer's Almanac, which began in 1792, has made a name for itself by providing long-term weather forecasts on an annual basis. The book also gives readers full moon dates, recipes and various self-help tips.
