Woman says she paid $20k for walk-in tub that has never worked, company won’t fix

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — An Oklahoma City woman feels like a bath remodeling company took advantage of her after she paid them $20k to install a walk-in tub in her house two years ago, only for the tub to never function properly.

Patricia O’Hara says she needed a walk-in tub after a stroke gave her mobility challenges.

She hired Kansas-based ‘Bath Wizard’ to do the work.

With the tub still not fully functional, she says the company keeps giving her empty promises.

It was supposed to be her own private oasis, but two years later, O’Hara thinks her walk-in tub might better serve as a boat anchor.

“It’s just kind of in the way now,” O’Hara told News 4. “Big mistake.”

O’Hara is retired. She lives alone with her two dogs.  She also uses a wheelchair.

“I’ve had a stroke and just in a lot of pain, and I can’t get in the tub,” she said.

Two years ago she paid Overland Park, Kansas-based Bath Wizards $20,000 to install a walk-in tub complete with all the bells and whistles.

“I’m just in pain all the time, so I needed the jets,” she said.

But from the very first time she went to use those jets, it’s been headache after headache.

“Well it never worked,” O’Hara said. “There’s a light in there that doesn’t work. The jets, nothing mechanical works. All that works in the water.”

She made several calls to the man named ‘Jim’ she’d been dealing with at Bath Wizard.

“I kept calling and they kept saying ‘We’ll come out there,’” O’Hara told News 4. “So I kind of just assumed they would take care of it. They never did. And I finally realized I can’t put myself through this. I just gave up and contacted you all.”

News 4 sent ‘Jim’ a text, and even though it shows he read it, he never responded.

News 4 also called him, but it went straight to voicemail.

With no answers, O’Hara is still trying to hold out hope Bath Wizards will finish the job they started.

“I feel like I’ve really been taken advantage of,” O’Hara said.
