OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — It was a mixed reaction from many who lived in the neighborhoods surrounding Gaillardia during Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance’s Friday visit.

“Trump, Vance 2024!” One neighbor shouted. “I’m not voting for him, get out,” said another.

The visit was all a part of a private luncheon hosted at the home of Quail Creek Bank owner, Mark Davenport, in the Northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood.

The Vice Presidential candidate flew in around noon on Friday and landed in a Trump/Vance airplane at Will Rogers Airport.

At the airport was Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt who was captured shaking hands with the candidate outside of his plane.

A motorcade with a mix of Oklahoma City police officers, and what looked to be Secret Service, made its way north.

The area had to be blocked off as the group entered through the west entrance.

On the flyer that’s been passed around online, the luncheon allowed for a person to buy a ticket to private event, for $5,000. The flyer also said that someone who wanted a photo with Vance and a ticket would have been $15,000.

The flyer said that the price went all the way up to $100,000 if someone wanted to be a committee host too.

In attendance were said to be the Governor Kevin Stitt, Senator Markwayne Mullin, and Attorney General Gentner Drummond.

The motorcade stayed around for about three hours before leaving again where Vance is expected to fly to another state for another event.

News 4 spoke with neighbors who were driving by and asked questions.

If you were to stand in front of J.D. Vance right now, and as an Oklahoman ask him anything, what would it be?

    “Stop taking away women’s rights.”

    “Trump, Vance 2024!”

“I don’t like J.D. Vance. I’m voting for Kamala Harris.”

“Oh I’m all for him,” said one man, Jordan, who held a sign that read God Bless J.D. Vance . “I think he is a family man. He’s been through similar experiences as me. I’m glad he’s here.”

“I’m not for him. I didn’t like his movie ( Hillbilly Elegy ),” said another neighbor.

The election is a few months away.

The Democratic National Convention is a few weeks away and the nominee for their party is expected to be announced.

While it’s not officially announced, many officials have said current Vice President Kamala Harris should take the spot.
