If you ever wanted to explore your inner creative self, consider attending the Oklahoma Arts Institute’s fall weekend workshops for adults in southwest Oklahoma at the Quartz Mountain State Park Lodge. Even better? The institute offers full scholarships and discounts for educators, and many of the workshops are geared to those who teach.

Over a series of weekends in October, the Oklahoma Fall Arts Institute is offering classes in visual, literary and performing arts. Applications for educator scholarships and online registration open on Thursday [a1].

Specific subjects include fiction writing, drawing, film education (with deadCenter Film Festival), Native American beadwork, felted wool, monotype printmaking, photography, watercolor, woodcut print and stencil, planning and executing the choral vacation (for teachers), dance education, Orff-Afrique for music educators, inclusive art, yoga and integrating folk arts and local culture into the curriculum.

I attended a Fall Arts Institute photography workshop years ago and loved it I learned a lot, enjoyed the beautiful setting against Lake Altus-Lugert and the Quartz Mountains and highly recommend checking out all the magic that goes on at the mountain, as people associated with the arts institute often call it.

A full schedule and details about workshops geared specifically toward educators are available on the website at oaiquartz.org .
