No money to take a trip to Japan? The owners of Tamashii Ramen House want you to try out authentic ramen crafted by the chef at Suzuki Ramen in Shizuoka, Japan.

For five days Tamashii's Edmond location, 132 E 5 Street, will host a pop-up event for guests to experience first hand the chef and his team's creations.

"They are actually coming from Japan to take over our ramen menu. So we're not going to sell our regular ramen menu, we're going to sell their ramen. So it's going to be all their recipes," said Wakana Sebacher, who owns Tamashii with her husband Matt.

Sebacher said they'll also be serving Japanese-style chicken wings, a popular side dish at ramen shops in Japan, including Suzuki. Several other Tamashii sides will also be available for purchase but the ramen recipes will all be exclusively from the Suzuki team.

The Sebachers met the team at Suzuki through a mutual friend after sharing that they wanted to bring a unique pop up event to Oklahoma.

"I'm from Japan, so we have friends in Japan, that kind of stuff, so we wanted to bring something special to Oklahoma. Without leaving Oklahoma they get to experience other Japanese ramen because ramen is just like hamburgers or pizza," Sebacher said. "You know, there's no one kind of pizza or burger, everybody does do a different way, so not just showing our ramen, we wanted to bring a different ramen so they can experience Japan here."

The ramen pop-up is ticketed, with each ticket securing a seat and allowing guests to choose a ramen bowl of their choice from the four available options. Sebacher said walk-ins will be taken, but they will be limited, may experience a wait and a ticket is the best way to guarantee timely service.

In addition to the pop-up, Tamashii eventually looks bring in Japanese whiskeys and other spirits for mixed drinks at the location, which recently underwent renovation and is in the process of obtaining its alcohol licensing.

Tamashii is also working toward opening a third location at 126 W Main Street in Norman later this year.

What are the ramen options for the Suzuki pop-up?

Suzuki Ramen will offer four options, including a vegan choice during the pop-up. Each ticket includes a bowl of ramen.

Suzuki Tonkotsu : Suzuki Ramen's special creamy tonkotsu broth, slowly simmered large chashu, and specially blended noodles made just for this event.

Suzuki Yuzu : A yuzu-flavored ramen with a clear pork-based broth. Topped with yuzu peel, chashu, and green onions, the noodles create a flavorful and healthy dish.

Suzuki Spicy : A bowl with a balance of spiciness from homemade chili oil and chili powder and the mildness of egg. A must-try for spicy food lovers.

Suzuki Vegan : A vegan ramen made with soy milk broth. This new taste, developed by Suzuki Ramen specifically for this event in the U.S., is a first of its kind.
