OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — Sleepless nights in one Northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood may have come to an end, at least for now.

Neighbors living in the area have been wondering what’s up with all the noise they say has been keeping them up all night for days.

Kim Kassen has lived in her Northwest Oklahoma City home for 30 years. She describes her neighborhood as quiet, until on Sunday.

A blaring noise coming from the parking garage of the Integris Health Baptist Medical Center’s Portland Campus has disrupted the peace Kassen and her neighbors have always known.

“We thought it was like angry birds or loud, sick crickets. I mean, very loud,” explained Kassen. “Our bedroom faces that way, so you can’t hardly get any sleep. We’ve called the hospital and they said that they would tell somebody.”

But for two days straight, Kassen said the noise continued to blast.

“It just kept on and kept on and kept on. Now it has went on 24/7 since the weekend,” said Kassen.

News 4 received the following statement from Integris Hospital revealing what the unknown noise was:

We have no record of anyone reaching out to the hospital to complain. The sound is a bird deterrent that we have used for approximately 20 years. Our facilities crew is looking into it and will adjust if possible.

A few hours later, News 4 checked back and found the noise had finally gone silent again.

Kassen said she’s looking forward to enjoying the quiet.

“Peace on the patio,” said Kassen.
