OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – House Democrats have called on Governor Kevin Stitt to call for a special session to impeach Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Todd Hiett.

Hiett was recently accused of groping another man during a conference in Minnesota in June. The man, who has not been identified, reportedly worked for an agency that has a business relationship with the Corporation Commission.

Hiett made his first public appearance since the accusations surfaced during the Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners meeting Wednesday.

“I call on Commissioner Hiett to resign his position immediately,” said fellow Commissioner Bob Anthony.  “This agency needs to stand for transparency and truth.”

According to documents obtained by News 4 through an open records request, Kansas Corporation Commission employees allegedly witnessed the incident. They said, in the documents, that Hiett was “severely intoxicated.”

The documents also stated that Hiett came over to the witnesses’ table at a hotel bar and started touching the shoulder and arm of the man before placing his hand on the man’s leg and groin.

Kansas Commission workers reported the behavior to superiors.

During Wednesday’s meeting, Commissioner Kim David called for an independent investigation into the incident.

“I don’t want this agency as being seen as sweeping something under the rug,” said David. “We take all allegations seriously.”

Hiett stayed quiet during the discussion, but released a statement earlier and said he had no plans to step down.

“I acknowledge the seriousness of this situation and upon learning of this event, I immediately sought treatment. I am currently under the care of expert physicians and counselors to treat this affliction,” said Hiett in a statement.

He also apologized to anyone “who was offended by my behavior.”

House Democratic leader Cyndi Munson, D-Oklahoma City, has called for Governor Stitt to step.

“There is no place for such inappropriate and appalling behavior, especially sexual assault,” said Munson. “these reported incidents are an example of someone abusing their power and status in order to intimidate and take advantage of people.”
