An Oklahoma City man accused of shooting at a police vehicle has been sentenced to federal prison.

In Oklahoma City federal court this week, Michael Anthony Wilson II, 40, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for illegal possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

Last October, police reported that an officer had been shot at while in his patrol vehicle near W Wilshire Boulevard and Lyrewood Lane.

The officer initially had been flagged down by a person unrelated to the shooting, police said. While speaking with the person who flagged the officer down, someone nearby started shooting, police said.

The officer’s vehicle was hit, and he suffered minor shrapnel wounds.

Six gunshots were reported to have been fired. Police spoke with witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage.

Wilson was later taken into custody without incident along Northwest Expressway and booked into the Oklahoma County jail.

In November, a federal grand jury charged Wilson with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty in February. Wilson had previous felony convictions, including kidnapping, domestic assault and second-degree burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle, court records show.
