Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Szechuan Story, a gem tucked away amidst a sea of dim sum spots. The restaurant offers a delightful array of dishes that are both authentic and tantalizing. I started with the spicy kidney flowers, which were a standout, perfectly capturing the essence of traditional Szechuan cuisine with their authentic preparation. Although the long beans in the three fresh vegetables dish were slightly past their prime, the overall flavor was still enjoyable.
The vegan mapo tofu was a delightful surprise, rich and satisfying even though the chow mein was a tad sweeter than I prefer. The staff was incredibly accommodating, especially in guiding us through the vegetarian options and ensuring that our dietary preferences were respected, which was much appreciated. The highlight of my visit, however, was the Lift Fish - a dish so exquisitely prepared that it arrived swiftly despite its complexity, tender and slightly crunchy without a bone in sight.
Szechuan Story is not just about great food; it's about the experience. The attentive service, coupled with dishes like the crispy and tender intestine and intriguing pig ear with chili oil, makes this place a must-visit. I'm already planning my next visit to delve deeper into their menu!
