Armani-branded condos snag Manhattan’s priciest contract
The Giorgio Armani Residences once again nabbed the top spot in Manhattan’s luxury market, marking the fourth time the branded condo has landed a top deal this year. The penthouse at 760 Madison Avenue, asking $32.5 million, was the most expensive of 20 homes asking $4 million or more to find buyers last week, according to Olshan Realty’s weekly report.

Four people, including two kids, stabbed to death in Bensonhurst apartment
BENSONHURST — A TRAGIC SCENE unfolded on West 8th Street in Bensonhurst late Friday night when a 24-year-old man allegedly stabbed his brother’s wife, mother and two children to death after a domestic dispute. Police say they responded at roughly 10:18 p.m. after receiving a 911 call of an assault in progress within an apartment. Upon arrival, officers found a 56-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her neck. Upon further investigation, they discovered a 27-year-old woman, a 5-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy all deceased inside the apartment. The victims were identified as Fayzieva Mavlyuda, 56; Maftuna Khakimova, 27; Kamila Shavkatova, 5; and Timur Shavkatov, 4. The 24-year-old suspect was taken into custody.

World Champion for Panettone Leads a New Bakery Open in Manhattan
Realmuto Alta Pasticceria, a 5,000-square-foot all-day Italian cafe and pastry shop is in soft open mode starting today at 117 Seventh Ave South, the longtime home of the West Village Gourmet Garage supermarket. Owner Francesco Realmuto, who also owns Filaga Pizzeria and L’Arte del Gelato in Manhattan has tapped Giuseppe Zito to lead the bakery — a decorated pastry chef who has been a world champion for his panettone. On the sweet side expect bomboloni, cannoli, and more. There’s a full-service lunch and dinner component by Mauro Campanale, who also relocated to New York for the role, that includes several handmade pastas and other entries, as well as savory pastries like salted cod macarons and fava bean and pecorino tarts. By night, there will eventually be apertivi options as well. The space — decorated to look like a “vibrant indoor Italian piazza” seats around 50, according to a spokesperson. Reservations are up online.

Driver found dead after truck explosion causes road closures, evacuations in Clifton
A driver has been found dead after a large truck exploded and caught fire, which prompted road closures and traffic delays in Clifton on Monday morning.It happened on Route 3 near East Valley Road around 9 a.m. but the large mess left behind will likely take a while to be cleaned up.Route 3 was closed in both directions following the crash, but the westbound lanes reopened Monday evening.Eastbound lanes are still closed between Route 46 and Grove Street. Town of Greenwich Hires New Town Administrator
First Selectman Fred Camillo has announced the hiring of Kathleen Buch as the new Town Administrator and COO. Her hiring is effective September 23, 2024. Buch’s hiring comes after a thorough, open search and she will succeed current Town Administrator and COO Ben Branyan, who has taken the position of chief financial and administrative officer of the Greenwich Public Schools. Buch is currently the Town Administrator of the Town of Darien and said she is eager for the new challenges of coming to work in Greenwich.
Midsummer Music: What’s Happening in Classic Arts This Week
Even in the middle of summer, the classic arts scene in New York is never quiet. Here is just a sampling of some of the classic arts events happening this week. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s series of Summer Evening concerts continues this week with concerts July 23 and 27. The July 23 concert will feature pianist Orion Weiss, violinists Lun Li and Danbi Um, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Sterling Elliott, and clarinetist Ricardo Morales, playing a program including works by Mozart, Richard Strauss, Robert Schumann, Ernő Dohnányi. The July 27 concert will feature violinists Sean Lee and Cho-Liang Lin, violists Aaron Boyd and James Thompson, cellist Nicholas Canellakis, and flautist Tara Helen O’Connor, playing a program of works by Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, and Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst.
