Ansonia Schedules Public Hearing To Dissolve WPCA Board, Publishes “Transition Plan” For Aquarion Sale
ANSONIA – The Ansonia Board of Aldermen has scheduled a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday (July 24) to dissolve the city’s Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA). The proposal includes the repeal of a city ordinance establishing the WPCA, and the passage of a replacement ordinance which grants the Board of Aldermen all the powers and responsibilities the WPCA previously held. Bear killed after biting woman in Conn.
The woman sustained minor injuries in the attack. Environmental police in Connecticut euthanized a 280-pound black bear Saturday afternoon after it bit a woman in Cheshire. Recently, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including $387,042 for the purchase of law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.

MONROE, CT — Neighbors of the SPCA of Connecticut Animal Shelter railed against the facility at 359 Spring Hill Road when it first opened in the early 2000s, but the dog kennels were a grandfathered use. The owner, Frederick Acker, fought with town officials over the number of dogs allowed on the property over the years and, due to financial woes, the shelter closed down for good last year.
