Severe storms bring more heavy rain to West Michigan
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Severe thunderstorms racing across West Michigan late Monday night and early Tuesday morning created vivid lightning and dropped more heavy rain on already saturated ground. The storms first moved onto the Lake Michigan shoreline around 11 p.m. Monday and moved steadily eastward until clearing the area by 3 a.m. Tuesday. Doppler radar estimated rainfall showed the heaviest precipitation fell in an east to west stripe that roughly followed I-94 where between 2.5" and 4.0" of rain may have fallen.

Widespread damage and thousands without power after strong storms roll through Michiana
(WNDU) - Strong storms overnight caused significant damage and left thousands in Michiana without power. At last check Wednesday evening, Indiana Michigan Power is still reporting more than 850 outages across its coverage area, with nearly 600 of them in Elkhart County. However, I&M expects to restore power to all customers that have undamaged structures and can receive it by 6 p.m.

First City Drainage District Eyed for Eighth Street Area
Traverse City commissioners will vote tonight (Monday) to pursue creating the city’s first drainage district, a major step toward addressing stormwater runoff in the city. While several locations were considered, staff are recommending establishing the first drain in the Eighth Street area, which has experienced high flows during rain events and quality issues where polluted water runs off into East Grand Traverse Bay – the source of the city’s drinking water.
