Severe storms dump rain, pause play in Mountain State
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Separate lines of severe thunderstorms rocked the Mountain State Saturday afternoon and evening producing gusty winds, lightning and heavy rain. The first line of storms delayed the second half of the WVU-Penn State game in Morgantown by more than two hours. The first half ended just before the storm hit.

One killed, two hurt in shooting in Clairton
CLAIRTON, Pa. (KDKA) - One person is dead, two others are hurt, and a suspect is in custody after shots were fired in Clairton early on Sunday morning. According to Allegheny County Police, just before 4 a.m. dispatch was made aware of a disturbance in the 400 block of State Street and police were sent to the scene. Once they arrived, they found a large amount of people fighting in the street, and multiple police departments were called to assist Clairton Police. Around 4:10 a.m., multiple gunshots were heard in the crowd. One man was shot and attempted to flee the scene, crashing his vehicle on State Street, and then was pronounced dead. Two other men were hurt - one was shot in the arm and the other in the leg. Police took one person into custody. Allegheny County Police detectives are investigating and they're asking anyone with information to call their tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. New recycle bin distribution date announced for City of Erie residents
The City of Erie is hosting another date to distribute recycling carts to its residents after they had a high response rate at their event earlier this week. The city announced the distribution day will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Department of Public Works building — 2011 Holland St. — where they will give around 3,000 carts to those eligible.

Thunderstorms could spoil some Labor Day plans as they move into the Harrisburg area later Saturday, the National Weather Service says. The weather service says strong to severe thunderstorms with gusty winds, hail and heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding are possible this afternoon into the evening. Court activity ongoing in former teacher’s suit against Franklin district
Marcy Brown, a former teacher at Franklin High School, has filed a lawsuit against the Franklin School District and three administrators, alleging age discrimination, a hostile work environment, and retaliation. In connection with this, she plans to reissue subpoenas to nine current and former district employees and students after an initial attempt was challenged by the district’s legal team. The district argued the subpoenas caused an undue burden due to being improperly served and illegible. Brown, through her attorney, responded that the subpoenas were intended as notice and would be reissued according to federal rules. The lawsuit, which has seen multiple delays in fact discovery, includes allegations that previous Title IX complaints against Brown were unfounded, though the district contends there were findings of policy violations. Brown had previously sued the district in 2012 and 2014 for gender discrimination, which were settled without the district admitting fault.
