ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Two teenagers were found dead after shots rang out early Monday morning in Olivette.

The shooting occurred on the 9400 block of Olive Boulevard, just west of Interstate 170. St. Louis County Police had a large section of Olive completely shut down as the investigation unfolded.

Sergeant Tracy Panus with the St. Louis County Police Department says officers from the Olivette Police Department responded to a call of a shooting around 12:51 a.m. Monday morning.

Panus says that when officers got to the scene, they heard shots in the vicinity and initially believed that they were being fired upon. That’s when the officers put out an “officer in need of aid” call.

Police from multiple agencies responded to the scene, including officers from Clayton, Shrewbury, Rock Hill and the North County Police Cooperative.

A short time later, police say they found a teenage boy located in a nearby field dead and another teenage boy dead inside an apartment building. Investigators say both teenagers suffered from apparent gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

At this point, the police have not provided any details about the two teenagers who were found dead, including their ages or identities. There are also no details about what may have sparked the gunfire in the first place.

At the request of Olivette Police, the crimes against persons bureau from the county police is now in charge of the investigation.
