The Biochar King of Minneapolis
Minneapolis may be the only city in the country with a carbon sequestration program manager on staff. Now, Jim Doten — who holds that title — is about to realize his dream of starting up one of the first municipally owned and operated carbon removal projects. The Minnesota metropolis has just purchased its very own biomass pyrolyzer, a machine that heats up tree clippings in a low-oxygen environment and turns them into a form of charcoal called biochar. As the wood grew, it sucked carbon out of the air during photosynthesis; as biochar, that carbon becomes stable for hundreds of...
Early Reports Suggest One Vikings Rookie Is the Real Deal
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s first two rookie classes have been evaluated from every possible angle, as folks were underwhelmed by the early results of his first group – for a good reason. Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth have been borderline disasters and besides Ed Ingram and, to some extent, Ty Chandler, the 2022 rookies aren’t looking very bright.

Willi Castro is making MLB history this season with the Twins
Imagine, as a Manager, your star player goes down injured, and you aren’t sure when they will return. This can be an unnerving thought as you try to keep the team competitive during a long season. This can even be made worse when you’re the manager of the Minnesota...
Vikings Linked to “Luxury Addition” Free Agent
Free agency was a crazy time for the Minnesota Vikings, as quarterback Kirk Cousins left after six seasons. He was replaced by signing Sam Darnold (and subsequently drafting J.J. McCarthy). Danielle Hunter’s departure was used to rebuild the entire pass-rushing group by acquiring Andrew Van Ginkel, Jonathan Greenard, and Dallas Turner.

After seven months of contract negotiations, about 100 union workers and supporters rallied and marched Thursday in northeast Minneapolis, kicking off what could be a week-long strike.

The North Branch Nighthawks Town Ball team possesses some seasoned veterans once again this year — some who have been with the program over the last eight to nine years. It can serve as a big advantage for the group, which now has several new additions in a variety of younger players who are looking to make an immediate impact. Jimmy Skroch, Nick Solberg, Clint Mattson and Nick Pilz make up the leaders at the helm, while recent North Branch grads Andrew Orf, Noah Thorsen,...

New north Minneapolis trail construction set to begin next week
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Construction is set to begin next week on a mixed-use riverfront trail in north Minneapolis that will extend a popular regional trail. The new riverfront trail segment will connect Ole Olson Park and the 26th Avenue North Overlook, creating a new 1,000-foot trail in the process that officials hope will add "new riverside experiences" to the area for pedestrians and cyclists. The trail also connects the 26th Avenue North Overlook to the downtown riverfront and the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway – a 51-mile continuous bike/walk trail that circles most of Minneapolis.

Dalvin Cook and The 2024 Vikings
Yesterday, Dustin Baker considered the fits for Cook on Vikings Territory. The list of teams — the Jaguars, Saints, 49ers, Seahawks, and Cowboys — all make at least some sense. Allow me to toss in the Chiefs — Super Bowl team with a desire to keep supporting Patrick Mahomes — and Browns — Kevin Stefanski connection — as teams that make sense. Oh, and the Bills, too.
