BOWIE, Md. — Bowie Police want to remind drivers to slow down and obey stop signs as the new school year begins in Prince George's County. The police department just launched a one-month demonstration program featuring stop sign cameras at key intersections in the city. For the next month, stop sign cameras will be operational at two or more of the following intersections:
Towson two-alarm fire leaves man dead, three children injured
BALTIMORE - An early morning fire in Towson left a man dead and four other people injured, including three children, on Monday.Crews responded to the 8400 block of Greenway Road just after midnight for an apartment fire. When they arrived, there were people trapped inside a burning second-floor apartment, according to the fire department.Crews worked to rescue the individuals and put out the flames. A total of five people were taken to the hospital, including three children and two adults. A 5-year-old, 4-year-old and an infant had minor burns. One of the adults, a man, later died at the hospital.The fire department said the fire was placed under control just before 1 a.m. According to Bureau Chief Travis Francis, the Red Cross is assisting the family with housing and other necessities.At this time, investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
School zone cameras set up to keep Baltimore area students safe

“Faces” loom large in Richmond Highway Corridor art projects
More public art is coming to the Richmond Highway Corridor. This past week saw the initial implementation of two separate projects involving unique twists on human faces. At the Hybla Valley Community Center, international mural artist Giuseppe Percivati — known professionally as Pepe Gaka — spent Aug. 24 in an aerial lift painting the outline of a young boy’s face on the east side of the building.

Two adults found dead after shooting in New Market

Frederick County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting the resulted in the death of two adults. On Sunday around 7 a.m., Police were called to the 7000 block of Mandalong Court in New Market for reports of a shooting at a residence.When authorities arrived, they found two adults dead and four children who were unarmed during the incident. The cause of death has not yet been determined and detectives are still investigating the incident.
