Two suspects were arrested and extradited back to the state, following an alleged assault which occurred in Olney in May.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an Olney Police Department officer was dispatched to a disturbance call at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 15 regarding a woman who had endured a stab wound and needed assistance.

Tanya Rater, 41, was transported to Olney Hamilton Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

In her interview about the incident, she explained her estranged husband, Patrick Rater, 32, had contacted her via text message using an unidentified number. He asked to be allowed into the house to retrieve personal belongings.

Patrick Rater stated another woman, Summer Krick, 22, who Tanya Rater claims was involved with Patrick, would not be with him. He alleged Krick accused him of trying to reconcile with Tanya Rater.

According to a statement written by Tanya Rater, Patrick Rater arrived at her house at approximately 11 p.m.

Shortly after Patrick Rater arrived, Krick allegedly attempted to enter the residence through the back door, according to probable cause affidavits. Patrick Rater left from the front entrance, walked around the house and met Krick.

Tanya Rater asked her son to contact the police before opening the back door to tell the couple to leave.

“In the video, it appears that (Patrick) Rater is trying to lure (Tanya) Rater back off the porch when Krick runs around the corner and physically attacks (Tanya) Rater while (Patrick) Rater watches,” one of the affidavits states.

According to one of the affidavits, surveillance footage shows Krick holding something resembling a knife or boxcutter-type object, and shows the couple fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Tanya Rater sustained a 1.5-inch laceration to the mid-back, a one-inch laceration to her right thumb and minor cuts on her left forearm.

Warrants were issued for Patrick Rater and Krick for charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

Patrick Rater and Krick fled to Hempstead County, Ark., where they were arrested two days after the attack. They were then extradited to Young County Jail last week, where they both remain on $200,000 bonds.

After the incident, Tanya Rater filed protective orders against both Patrick Rater and Krick. She later asked the court to dismiss the protective order against Patrick Rater, which was denied by 90th Judicial District Judge Phillip Gregory.

If granted, the pair would not be allowed to communicate with Tanya Rater, or be within 1,000 feet of her workplace, home, or person. A hearing on the order has been set for Monday, June 17.
