Chicago White Sox pitcher Dominic Leone departed early from Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees due to right elbow soreness.

The right-hander entered the game in relief of Justin Anderson with one out in the top of the seventh inning. Leone recorded one out on an unconventional sacrifice fly before allowing a walk and two hits.

He was in apparent discomfort after Austin Wells' two-RBI single that put the Yankees ahead 4-2. After being attended to on the mound, Leone walked off the field with trainers as Chad Kuhl came in to pitch for the White Sox.

It's been a tough season for Leone, who owns a 6.63 ERA and has spent significant time on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, an issue that has seemingly flared up again.

The White Sox said postgame that Leone will be further evaluated on Thursday. Chicago has an off day before visiting the Houston Astros for a three-game series beginning Friday.
