Jay Monahan Speaks... Barely

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of the season ending Tour Championship at East Lake. Monahan once again dodged questions about the future of the Tour and a potential deal with PIF and LIV. Regarding the deal, Monahan stated, "We have not agreed to a deadline. We do not want to restrict ourselves in that way."

You Have To Be Kidding Me

As stated above, the deadline was almost 9 months ago at the time of this article. Monahan has lurked in the shadows and continually dodged the big questions repeatedly. Board members have resigned and they still seem to be at the starting line for something that began in June 2023.

It has taken 14 months for a deal to go nowhere. The players have taken more action at this point in terms of Tour leadership than the actual board sitting members of the Tour itself. The crowds are going to start to stir even more. When does unification occur , if ever, at this juncture?

Jay Monahan is a joke. There is no way to take him seriously in this role, let alone trust him to continue to guide the Tour. He essentially received a promotion in the creation of PGA Tour Enterprises and what has he given us since? The runaround.

Monahan doesn't have the answers and its clear. He is not the guy for the job and I hope for the betterment of golf, others start to speak out on their opinions. This has gone on long enough and the Tour has gotten nowhere. So what that there are some television coverage benefits? It doesn't matter when you don't show the golf.

The time has come, Jay Monahan needs to go and the Tour needs to move forward. Nothing will change with Monahan in charge at this juncture. He can't even be in the spotlight for more than 15 minutes every three months. It's time to move on, next man up.
