Charlie Roumeliotis, a seasoned journalist deeply connected to the Chicago Blackhawks from his time at NBC Sports Chicago, is now the new voice of WGN Radio's Blackhawks coverage. Roumeliotis replaces Joe Brand who was recently named the new radio play-by-play voice of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Why Charlie Roumeliotis is the Perfect Fit

Charlie Roumeliotis’s journey in the sports industry, particularly his extensive experience covering the Blackhawks, makes him an ideal candidate for this critical role at WGN Radio. Fans can continue to look forward to comprehensive coverage, including exclusive interviews, expert analysis, and game recaps, all delivered with the passion and expertise Roumeliotis has been known for during his time with NBC Sports Chicago.

In his own words, Roumeliotis expressed his excitement about the opportunity .

“Growing up, I was an avid listener of Blackhawks’ broadcasts, especially those with John Wiedeman and Troy Murray, whose voices and insights helped fuel my passion for the sport. To have the chance to work alongside them is an absolute honor. I’m thrilled about the journey ahead and eager to engage and inform the team’s loyal fan base.”

Roumeliotis's appointment is more than just a change of voice on WGN Radio. It was in essence the "perfect fit" after many wondered where he would land with the Blackhawks TV coverage shifting from NBC Sports Chicago to the newly formed Chicago Sports Network .

CHSN announced last week that long-time pre- and post-game voice Pat Boyle would join the new network and assume his former duties alongside Tony Granato and Caley Chelios. However, one name from the former crew was missing in the CHSN announcements, and that was Roumeliotis.

With Tuesday's announcement, fans will not only be getting a suitable replacement for the position once held by Joe Brand but also a familiar voice that Blackhawks fans have become accustomed to hearing.
