    Is time a flat circle?

Week 2 of the Chicago Bears' 2024 season looked like countless other Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (you get the idea) that we've seen before. A disappointing 19-13 loss to the Houston Texans on national television generated frustration among the fan base and questions surrounding the team.

Here are six observations from Sunday's game.

Let's start with the positives (or positive—singular).

Last week, the Chicago Bears' defense looked otherworldly, forcing three turnovers and scoring two touchdowns (including a special teams score). That was against Will Levis and the now-0-2 Tennessee Titans. How would the defense perform against a potential Super Bowl contender in the Houston Texans?

They would perform very well. Very, very well.

The Bears had no business being within one score at any point on Sunday. But the defense played so well that Chicago had a chance to win the game.

The Bears' primary linebackers continued to play solid football as Tremaine Edmunds led the team with 11 tackles, including one sack. Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon stepped up in the run game, each recording a tackle for loss.

Jack Sanborn made an impact throughout the game with a great pass breakup on the opening drive and a crucial sack on C.J. Stroud in the fourth quarter.

Gervon Dexter Sr. continued his breakout season, recording another sack on Sunday.

The Bears held Stroud and the Texans to only one touchdown. Chicago's defense surrendered only 75 rushing yards to the Texans, who ran for 213 yards in Week 1. On several occasions, the defense received short fields but still forced field-goal attempts.

Furthermore, the Bears could've had their third defensive touchdown of the season if Gordon had caught this ball.

Time and time again, the defense bailed out the Bears offense.

Enough said. This defense is elite.

Chaser: the season is only two weeks old. It's still very early. Relax, and have patience.

    Bear Down.
