    With a four-game West Coast road trip in the books, the Chicago Blackhawks return to the United Center Thursday for their home opener against the San Jose Sharks at 7:30 p.m. CT. Unfortunately, it won't mark the first meeting between Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini as the Sharks' star rookie is sidelined with an injury.

    The Blackhawks own a 1-2-1 record after collecting three standings points on their season-opening road swing. Chicago last played Tuesday and suffered a 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames.

    The Sharks are still looking for their first win after opening the season 0-1-2. San Jose last played Tuesday and opened a three-game road trip with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars.

    Thursday marks the first of three meetings between the Blackhawks and Sharks this season. Chicago swept last season's three-game series, capturing a 5-4 overtime win in the most recent meeting on March 23 at the SAP Center.

    San Jose Sharks: Thomas Bordeleau (lower body, on IR), Lucas Carlsson (undisclosed, on injured/non-roster), Macklin Celebrini (lower body, on IR) , Igor Chernyshov (shoulder, on injured/non-roster), Logan Couture (groin, on IR), and Marc-Edourd Vlasic (upper body, on IR) are OUT .
