Chicago Fire to Hire Michael Stephens as Head of Recruitment, Per Report

The Chicago Fire’s offseason is in full swing and the club’s new director of football, Gregg Berhalter , has started to add some pieces around him in the front office.

Michael Stephens, who grew up in Naperville, is being hired as the Fire’s head of recruitment, according to GiveMeSport’s Tom Bogert . Stephens was previously the assistant general manager for the LA Galaxy.

Stephens is a familiar face for Fire fans as he played for the club in 2015 and 2016 before joining Chicago’s front office after his playing career. He worked for U.S. Soccer before he joined the Galaxy under GM Will Kuntz.

The first hire for Berhalter in his new-look Chicago Fire front office, Stephens will have plenty of work to do ahead of the season. The club’s roster will look different in the coming months and that has already begun.
