INCREDIBLE!! Lady Raiders Defeat Dobyns-Bennett in State Quarterfinal; Bradley Central Next Up
On Wednesday afternoon, the Coffee County Lady Raiders returned to the TSSAA state basketball tournament for the first time in 31 years. The Lady Raiders got things rolling in the first quarter as they jumped to a 22-9 lead over Dobyns-Bennett. Coffee County held a solid advantage 32-20 at the halftime break. The Lady Indians cut the lead to 5 with 1:05 to go in the third quarter. Thanks to an outstanding effort at the free throw, the Lady Raiders remained in front 38-31 going into the 4th. This is despite only hitting on one field goal in the third. In The final quarter, Coffee County stayed steady and continued to knock down free throws on their way to a 48-39 quarterfinal win.

State Veterinarian Confirms Rabies in Shelbyville Horse
The Tennessee State Veterinarian confirms that a horse in Bedford County that died was positive for rabies. “Incidence of rabies in horses is relatively low, but we’ve seen two cases in Tennessee in the last five months,” State Veterinarian Samantha Beaty said. “This neurologic disease is fatal, so livestock owners should consult their veterinarian about protecting their animal through vaccinations, as that is the easiest and most effective means to protect against the disease.”
Catholic Charities of Coffee Co Awarded $82,048 in Federal Funds
Coffee County was awarded $33,769 under Phases 39 & 40 of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP) and $49,953 through EFSP ARPAR to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
