Three 2024 high school signees eager to join Florida Gators next week as summer enrollees

Move-in day for the summer enrollees in Florida’s vaunted 2024 signing class is next week — and those set to arrive in Gainesville could not be more excited.

“I’m just ready to get down there and get to work,” offensive lineman Marcus Mascoll said.

The Gators signed 17 high school and one junior college player in the 2024 class in December. Then they added defensive lineman D’antre Robinson , a December Texas signee, and cornerback Jameer Grimsley , a December Alabama signee, in January.

Of those players, all but three — Mascoll, linebacker Aaron Chiles and tight end Amir Jackson , enrolled in January.

Offensive tackle Enoch Wangoy committed to Florida this spring for 2025 but reclassified to 2024 and he got to town last week. Now, Chiles will arrive next Monday, with Jackson and Mascoll reporting the following day.

Also of note, many of Florida’s transfers enrolled at Florida in January, too. The Gators recently added receiver Elijah Badger (Arizona State), cornerback Cormani McClain (Colorado), tight end Caleb Rillos (Air Force) and interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela (Southern California) as summer enrollees.

Chiles, Jackson and Mascoll were each 4-star recruits in the On3 Industry Rankings, with both Chiles and Jackson coming to Gainesville as top-100 national prospects.

“It’s been hard, watching the guys out there balling but I’m excited though,” Chiles said. “I went to two practices (this spring) and liked it. When I was there, I basically copied (the playbook) and just studied it when I came back home.”

Chiles is eager to return to Florida.

“The last couple days have been hard,” he said. “I’m excited. I talk to DJ (Lagway ), Myles (Graham ), KD Daniels . They told me to come down and our class can change the culture. Really, they told me to come and be ready to work. They all like it there so far.”

Chiles said he will play the linebacker spot currently occupied by Derek Wingo and Grayson Howard .

“You know me, I’m confident in myself,” Chiles told Gators Online. “I think I have an opportunity to play for sure. … I’m up to par for sure,”

Jackson, a talented tight end, will join a strong position room in Gainesville. But he is known for his great athleticism. During his final semester of high school, Jackson played basketball and competed for the Portal (Ga.) track and field team.

Meanwhile, Mascoll might be the least heralded of Florida’s remaining high school arrivals, but he’s a versatile lineman who can play guard or tackle in college.

“I’ve been talking with (Florida offensive tackle signee Mike Williams ) and one of the main things he said was to come in and be in shape — and do what you’ve go to do,” Mascoll said.
