The SEC Tournament is in full swing in Hoover this week, plenty of SEC teams are turning their attention to the NCAA Tournament and where they stack up. With that in mind, Vanderbilt Commodores head coach Tim Corbin went to bat for 11 teams to make it to the NCAA Tournament out of the SEC.

As he explained, Corbin believes those teams are deserving and that the SEC is the best conference in college baseball. That starts with the Florida Gators who Vanderbilt recently played in their first game in Hoover.

“Well, I think they’re deserving,” Tim Corbin said . “I mean, Florida — no one wants Florida in a Regional. Go ahead and try to pitch to [Jac] Caglianone and [Colby] Shelton and those guys, and their pitching too. Sully’s got a good team.”

Florida is a bubble team that probably needed to make a relatively strong run in the SEC Tournament to feel comfortable making the NCAA Tournament. Instead, they suffered a quick loss to Tim Corbin and the Commodores.

Currently, the SEC has six teams with winning records in conference play. There are also five teams with 13-17 records, including Vanderbilt and Florida, who are considered to be somewhere closer to the bubble.

“Listen, you’re banging yourself on the chest when you say we’ve got the best conference and that type of thing, but all 11 teams, in my opinion, are Regional teams,” Corbin said. “Now, whether they get there or not, I don’t know, but I’ve seen this league for a long time. Those are really good teams. So, I do believe they deserve the opportunity.”

In his latest Field of 64 projections , On3’s Jonathan Wagner had Tennessee , Kentucky , Texas A&M , Arkansas , and Georgia hosting the NCAA Regionals. In total, he has 11 teams from the SEC making the SEC Tournament, with LSU being among the last four teams in the NCAA Tournament. However, with a strong SEC Tournament performance since then, the Tigers look more secure in their situation right now.

Still, one of the biggest questions at the SEC Tournament is whether those 13-17 teams can solidify their resumes enough to secure spots. LSU, South Carolina , and Vanderbilt certainly seem like they’ve solidified their resumes. However, Florida and Alabama did not.

Time will tell how things work out and there’s a good chance that the number of SEC teams in the NCAA Tournament comes down to how many bids are stolen in other leagues.
