Most Miami fans are familiar with 2026 four-star receiver commit Malachi Toney from Plantation American Heritage. But one of his teammates has quietly communicated with the Hurricanes as well.

Four-star 2026 receiver Brandon Bennett , the No. 63 overall prospect in the On300 and No. 8 receiver in the 2026 recruiting cycle, returned to Miami’s campus at the end of last month and continues to hold serious interest in the local program. The Hurricanes’ warm and welcoming staff has helped Bennett maintain his interest in The U.

“It was good. I got to see all of the coaches again,” Bennett told CaneSport . “They do a good job making Miami feel like home. Every time I come here, the hospitality doesn’t change. That’s one thing I love about this program. It’s genuine. They keep it real with me.”

The 6-foot, 165-pound wideout said contact with Miami picked up once coaches became permitted to directly call and text 2026 prospects in mid-June. The Hurricanes quickly set up a group text with Bennett and started “building our relationship,” he said.

Receivers coach Kevin Beard and assistant David Cooney have both been involved early on.

“They do a good job of making me feel wanted in their program and making me feel like they want me to be apart of their program,” Bennett said. “They just wanted to see me in person (for his July visit), because my schedule is a little busy sometimes. So every time they get a chance to see me in person, they take advantage of it.”

Syracuse, Louisville, Florida State and Penn State have also caught Bennett’s attention early. He took trips to Louisville and Miami this summer and hopes to return to Coral Gables this fall.

“I’ll probably be down here for some of their games,” Bennett said. “I’ll probably be down here a lot. They make it feel like home every time I come here, and the coaches, I also have a great relationship with them. College for me, I’ve always wanted to go somewhere that feels like home.”

    CaneSport’s Take

Miami has been sure to keep the door open for one of the higher-ranked local receivers, and while Bennett more generally has not received the same amount of recruiting attention from national programs as Toney, he has continued to emerge after a strong sophomore season and encouraging spring.
