Miami Hurricanes stock-up recruiting candidates: 2025 UM commitments who could rise in recruiting rankings this fall

The final high school football season is around the corner for Miami’s top 2025 commits and remaining recruiting targets. And I’m eyeing a handful of prospects whose stocks could skyrocket this fall.

Here are four Miami commits whose stocks and recruiting rankings I believe will continue to rise this fall:

Herbert Scroggins III | No. 382 overall prospect, No. 34 EDGE

Scroggins is one of my favorite undervalued prospects in the 2025 cycle. He’s currently ranked outside of the On300, Top247 and Rivals250 but began turning heads this spring and summer after impressive junior season tape, and he’s continued to steadily rise through the rankings over the last few months. However, I think he’s poised to climb even higher this fall.

I love Scroggins’ versatility as a potential JACK defender at the college level (playing as a stand-up EDGE who can drop into coverage) and think his combination of size, strength, speed and disciplined has him poised for a breakout season this fall. Scroggins is a high school defensive coordinator’s dream and can play across a front seven as needed, and I’m predicting he’ll have a massive fall.

Max Buchanan | No. 297 overall prospect, No. 22 IOL

Buchanan will primarily play left tackle this year before transitioning to the interior at the college level, so he’s a bit more difficult to project for rankings services as a guard or center. But given his relentless motor and unwavering aggression on the offensive line, I think Buchanan will solidify himself as a top prospect by the end of the fall.

Buchanan emerged as one of Miami’s top offensive line targets early in the year and quickly became a favorite in Coral Gables. Buchanan is still plenty raw and will benefit from a year of college-level coaching from top offensive line coaches, but if he’s able to refine his craft a small amount and play with more consistency, he shouldn’t face a defensive lineman he’s not capable of handling. I’ll be keeping a close eye on Buchanan this fall.

SJ Alofaituli | No. 78 overall prospect, No. 5 IOL

I truly believe Alofaituli would be a consensus five-star prospect and a top-10 recruit nationally if he were around 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds instead of 6-foot-1 and 290, but I still believe he’s one of the country’s top offensive linemen now. However, I think his stock will continue to rise this fall as he continues to impress a challenging national schedule at Bishop Gorman.

Alofaituli will undoubtedly have some work to do once he arrives at Miami, but I think he’ll have an amazing chance to be an early-impact candidate given how refined his craft already is. I’m expecting Alofaituli to continue to dominate this fall and think we could see his stock climb higher than it already is.

TK Muex | No. 993 overall prospect, No. 79 IOL

Miami believes they found a hidden gem in Muex who has gone unnoticed by many of the country’s top programs. After meeting him in person this summer, I can see why. Muex has a ton of similarities to current Miami offensive lineman Anez Cooper , who was ranked outside of the top 1000 in the On3 Industry Ranking when he signed with the Hurricanes in 2022, and Miami’s staff believes he could develop in a similar way. Muex is listed as an inch taller than Cooper and only weighs 15 pounds less than the third-year Hurricane now, but his movement and strength as a guard is remarkably similar to Cooper’s as a high school prospect.

Miami’s staff believes it found a diamond in the rough in Cooper, and given head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal’s track record developing offensive linemen, I’m inclined to agree.
