PHOTOS: A look inside Georgia’s Saturday at Sanford Stadium

Georgia took the field at Sanford Stadium on Saturday to scrimmage for the second time this fall. It was an important one for a multitude of reasons. DawgsHQ’s staff expects it to be the Bulldogs’ final full speed in-game run through before UGA takes on Clemson in the season-opener. There will be plenty of hitting that happens in practice, but statements made on Saturday will carry weight with them as Georgia’s coaches are working to formulate a game plan and decide their depth chart for the top-15 battle between the Bulldogs and Tigers.

All that being said, we’ve got an inside look at the action from Sanford Stadium. Media wasn’t permitted to take in practice, but sources have helped us compile a report . Also, thanks to Tony Walsh and UGA Sports Communications, we’ve got photos for you to check out too!

Carson Beck / Gunner Stockton

Georgia’s quarterbacks were the position to watch this time last year. It was after the second scrimmage that Kirby Smart named Carson Beck (15) the starter. This year, Beck is back for more while Gunner Stockton (14) hopes he can improve his skills from the backup spot in anticipation of a QB battle next year.

Georgia Offensive Line

Starting center Jared Wilson (55) has been dealing with some soreness in his Achilles tendon during fall camp, but he’s pictured back in action on Saturday. That’s big news for the Bulldogs two weeks out from the opener.

If Wilson wasn’t able to go, they’ve been working hard to get Drew Bobo (74) up to speed. He, Monroe Freeling (57) and Bo Hughley (59) are among the other offensive linemen that can be seen in photos from Saturday.

Bulldog Defenders

Georgia’s defense has been consistently strong under Kirby Smart, and it’s once again expected to be among the nation’s best. Smael Mondon (2) and CJ Allen (3) at inside linebacker are among the reasons why, but it doesn’t hurt to have veteran presences like Chaz Chambliss (32) , JaCorey Thomas (20) and Dan Jackson (17) on the field either.

We’re not done with Georgia’s defense though. In its top-ranked Class of 2024 were six different players that got five-star nods from one of the recruiting industry’s major ranking outlets. Defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye (99) was among those while outside linebacker Quintavius Johnson (33) was on the lower end of the spectrum. On3 was highest on the Mays product, and a spectacular fall camp helps see why that was.

Freshmen Running Backs

Georgia signed a trio of running backs in the Class of 2024 with a goal of getting its numbers back up in the room. Nate Frazier (3) has created plenty of buzz during fall camp, but he’s not the only one who impressed on Saturday. Get a look at Chauncey Bowens (33) and Dwight Phillips (20) too.

Misc. Favorites from Fall Camp

Saturday wasn’t the first time between the hedges this fall either. Georgia took to Sanford Stadium last Saturday for a scrimmage too.
