On Sunday, Circa Sports released its Week 0 and Week 1 college football betting lines, including the spread for Notre Dame football’s season opener against Texas A&M.
Currently, it has the Aggies as a 2.5-point favorite over the Fighting Irish on Aug. 31 in College Station, Texas. The over/under total is 46½ points.
According to TeamRankings.com , the Irish covered the spread 75% of the time in 2023 — better than all but three teams: Arizona, Miami (OH) and Oregon. Their record against the spread was 9-3-1. Texas A&M was 5-7-1, only covering it 41.7%.
As for the over/under total, Notre Dame hit the “over” in nine games (69.2%), which was 11th last season. The Aggies did in seven of 13 games (53.9%). Under now-Irish offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock , the former LSU offensive masterminded helped the Tigers achieve the “over” in 12 of 13 games. That was the best mark in college football.
The Irish kick off the 2024 season against the Aggies at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
