For Jeff Burton, last night at Daytona may have felt like a dream. He called the race for his son’s first career NASCAR Cup Series win. Harrison Burton gets a huge weight off his shoulders and the entire family is celebrating.

Last night was what Daytona is made for. Underdog driver for an underdog team. A legacy driver, in fact, from one of the sport’s most popular families. There were wrecks, flips, and an overtime sprint to the finish line.

In the end, Jeff Burton was hugging his son in the infield at Daytona. That is a moment that will never be taken away from either of them and one that NASCAR fans will remember for years to come.

“Felt so much love and respect last night from fans and people in the sport. Very special,” Burton wrote on social media this morning after the race.

Daytona under the lights, it’s just too good.

Of course, we have to bring up the unfortunate reality that exists in this situation. Harrison Burton earned his first career win, he banked win 100 for Wood Brothers Racing . It’s historic! But he does not have a ride for next season.

For now, Harrison and his dad Jeff need to enjoy this as much as possible. Worry about 2025 later. You only win your first one, once.

Will Jeff Burton call another win for his son?

Harrison Burton is a young driver. He is only in his third season in the Cup Series. He entered with Todd Gilliland and Austin Cindric. Arguably, three drivers who had a ton of promise but hadn’t built up a big body of work prior to making it big.

A lot of that has to do with family ties. Cindric’s dad is president at Team Penske. Burton is Jeff’s kid and has sponsorship. Gilliland is also a legacy driver, his father David was a driver and is now a team owner in the Truck Series for Tricon Garage.

Cindric has multiple wins, a Daytona 500. Gilliland is going to be the face of Front Row Motorsports, showing huge improvements in the last year. Burton, is kind of just Jeff’s kid still.

Harrison Burton has won four times in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. I’d personally love to see him land a ride with Jordan Anderson Racing, team up with his cousin Jeb and the man who pushed him to the win last night, Parker Retzlaff.

Congratulation to Harrison Burton! I knew from watching you in your younger days at Gresham Motor Speedway, that you would make it to Nascar one day! Look forward to seeing you win more
