In the second year for Deion Sanders at Colorado , there are once again high expectations for the Buffaloes. However, ESPN insider Heather Dinich has her concerns about how the season is going to go for Colorado.

As she explained during an appearance on Get Up , Dinich believes that Colorado could be on upset alert in Week 1 against North Dakota State . A loss to NDSU would then put the Buffaloes in a bad spot and could contribute to a difficult 2024 season for head coach Deion Sanders.

“This is a nine-time FCS champion,” Heather Dinich said. “They’re better than they were last year. They are loaded at wide receiver. This is a team that might be the best it’s been in a couple of years and they’re no joke. So, I would definitely put Colorado on upset watch going into this one and that’s dangerous because ESPN analytics said they should also lose Week 2 to Nebraska . If you start 0-2, that’s rough for Deion Sanders.”

Beyond that potentially tricky start to the season for Colorado that Dinich laid out, she feels the entire schedule is difficult. Because of that, Dinich says that Colorado is looking at a four-win season.

“An afterthought with four wins,” Dinich said. “When I look at their schedule, ESPN analytics has them as a heavy favorite to win their season opener. I also think that they can get wins against Cincinnati , Baylor , I mean Colorado State is one that could be tricky but I look at this lineup and I see a lot of L’s on there, to be honest.”

Last season, Sanders led Colorado to a 4-8 record. That was after flipping the roster in the Transfer Portal. Sanders flipped the roster again this year, with the second-ranked transfer class in the 2024 cycle , according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings.

“Remember, they have a whole new roster again,” Dinich said. “The most transfers in the FBS with 44. This is a lot of turnover. So, I think they could be in trouble and we’re talking again about what Deion says off the field and not as much as what he does on it, in terms of the win column.”

Colorado opens its season against NDSU on Thursday, August 29th.
