According to FanDuel , Michigan State is a road dog at Maryland with the latter being favored by 8.5 points. The total for the game is 46.5 points.

Michigan State was expected to have a renewed offense under head coach Jonathan Smith and quarterback Aidan Chiles , both coming from Oregon State .

But mustering only 16 points raised some eyebrows and Chiles took the blame. Perhaps it’ll be different when Michigan State plays Maryland.

“I’m sorry if I sound rude or attitude-ish,” Chiles said, via SpartanMag. “I truly apologize. I’m a little angry at myself.

“We’re going to go watch film and we’re probably all going to hate it,” Chiles said. “We’re probably going to go in there with disgust. We don’t want to go in there and watch that. We didn’t do what we’re supposed to do. We didn’t do what we know we can do. But it’s a new week. We get another opportunity. We won a game. Go us. Now we get to come back and do it again. That’s all I can say.”

Michigan State and Maryland had vastly different performances at QB in Week 1. Chiles went 10-of-24 passing for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Billy Edwards Jr . torched UConn going 20-of-27 passing for 311 yards and two touchdowns.

“I thought he saw the field decent out there,” Smith said. “He could’ve been (more) accurate a little bit on a couple of easier throws. I do think he competed out there, ran with the ball, that showed up a little bit. We have to keep the thing locked up because he put it on the ground.

“I think he got confused on the (second) interception, he thought it was one coverage and it wasn’t. Again, first game, there’s a bunch of learning out there and I know he’ll learn from it.”
