Cole Adams injury update: Latest on Alabama wide receiver

Alabama wide receiver Cole Adams suffered an apparent arm injury early in the fourth quarter of Alabama’s 42-16 win over South Florida on Saturday. After the game, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on Adams’ condition.

“He just had an arm injury,” DeBoer said . “I would say we’ll have to see exactly where that’s at, just to the extent of that. I didn’t necessarily see and I didn’t even realize it was his arm until he kind of got up. I thought it was something lower leg.

“But we’ll kind of see where he’s at throughout the week. It’s unfortunate. I think he was more just frustrated that he got hurt than it was the pain that he was going through. But I’m sure it didn’t feel good.”

Before leaving the game with the injury, Adams recorded one reception for five yards. He also fielded two punts for the Crimson Tide. Adams has been Alabama’s primary punt returner in the 2024 campaign, with seven returns through only two games.

Adams is a redshirt freshman. He only appeared in two games last season before ultimately saving a season of eligibility. Despite Adams’ lack of action in his debut campaign, he carved out a role on the team during fall camp and consistently saw reps on the field before his injury.

Now, Adams will look to recover as quickly as possible to reclaim his place on the gridiron. Cole Adams isn’t the only new contributor for the Crimson Tide.

After the team’s win on Saturday, DeBoer praised his players who are stepping up this season into new roles. However, he also noted the importance of veteran leadership for the program.

“The foundation is still all the guys that have been here,” DeBoer said. “They understand the standard, they understand that and the leadership down in the locker room, whether it’s halftime or it’s the end of the game.

“Just holding each other accountable, including themselves, but also, showing that, ‘Hey, we can be better. Look what would happen if we just played our game, did our job and did it the right way.’”
