Memphis area linebacker Austin Howard has been committed to Mississippi State for a few months after flipping from Vanderbilt. Will he flip again? Tennessee is certainly making a push as he is set to visit next month.

“Just having the recruiting process and having fun with it,” Howard said of why he is still listening. “I just think it would be a good trip to come on. We will see what they have when I come up.”

“The atmosphere, the crowd and the players are real cool,” Howard said. “The coaches are real good. They are just winning.”

Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge and Howard talk a good bit. The veteran coach likes what Howard does on the field.

“When he came down here, he watched my practices and watched how I move,” Howard said. “How fluid I was and that was really the biggest thing. We talk all the time and we text after the Oklahoma game.

“We talk about random stuff. He asked me how I’m doing and will send me videos from practice. He is a cool dude. He is a little bit goofy but he makes it work.”

So when he comes up next month, is there anything in particular that he will be looking for?

“Just see how the program is moving,” Howard said. “See how I would fit in and see where I would play. And see how they do. See how they operate.”

Howard will be in town for the Alabama game next month he told Volquest. Tennessee has two linebackers committed as of now with J aedon Harmon and Christian Gass both showcasing versatility.

Tennessee will only lose one linebacker as Keenan Pili will graduate after this season.
