The Arkansas On3 Massey Ratings top 25 list as of Oct. 2 has remained relatively stagnant as the top ten teams have solidified their positions. Meanwhile, three newcomers are among the Arkansas high school football teams ranked 11 to 25. Here’s how the state’s best teams fared after the games during the last weekend of September.

The On3 Massey Ratings , officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. According to the model, three teams from Arkansas rank in the top 100 nationwide.

    1. Bryant

In addition to being the best high school football team in the state, they also have the top-ranked offense after scoring a season-high 62 points against Little Rock Central. The Hornets scored 42 first-quarter points against the Tigers and never looked back. While the 34 th -best team in the nation possesses a 4-0 record, their schedule will get more challenging as they compete with ninth-ranked Little Rock Christian on the 4 th and fourth-ranked Pulaski Academy a week later.

    2. Greenwood

The Bulldogs made easy work of Shiloh Christian, their most formidable opponent to date. Kane Archer threw two touchdown passes to Grant Karnes, who finished the game with 110 yards. Wesley Raggio and Isaiah Arrington added one touchdown apiece. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs defense did their work, tallying 17 tackles for negative yardage and two sacks. As Arkansas high school football’s top-ranked defense, Greenwood can put the clamps on Russellville during their Oct. 4 contest.

    3. Conway

The Wampus Cats delivered a season-high 56 points in their latest victory against Little Rock Southwest. It’s the second time this season that they’ve scored at least 50 points and never scored lower than 42. Conway will face North Little Rock and 14 th -ranked Cabot in their following two assignments.

    4. Pulaski Academy

Outscoring opponents has been the Bruins’ calling card this year, and that mentality allowed them to maintain an undefeated record despite giving up 36 and 47 points in some games. However, their defense stepped up by blanking winless North Little Rock in their last game. As the Bruins’ defense shut down the Charging Wildcats, their offense generated five touchdown passes from quarterback Brandon Cobb. Pulaski Academy can improve to 5-0 by defeating Little Rock Central.

    5. Parkview Magnet

After putting up only ten points in their loss to top-ranked Bryant, the Patriots coasted to a 52-14 victory over Hot Springs. That’s the second time they’ve scored 50 points this season. Now that they’ve rediscovered their offensive tenacity, Parkview Magnet could dominate Dequeen on Oct. 4 and winless Hope on the 10 th .

    6. Fayetteville

Texas’s 15 th -best team, Texas High, dented Fayetteville’s undefeated record via a 55-54 thriller. However, the Bulldogs responded by dominating Bentonville West 49-21. Now that they’re back on track, they’ll visit tenth-ranked Rogers for an epic matchup.

    7. Benton

The Panthers are on a three-game winning streak after defeating Jonesboro. They have averaged 51 points per game in their last three matches, helping them become the fifth-best offense in Arkansas high school football. What’s better is that Benton should have little trouble defeating Sylvan Hills and Sheridan in their next two games.

    8. Bentonville

After four games, the Tigers finally registered a victory, defeating Har-Ber 55-21. Losing their first three games isn’t their fault because they went through some challenging opponents like third-ranked Conway and Lee’s Summit North, Missouri’s top-ranked team. Their schedule should get easier as they take on Northside and Rogers Heritage on the 4 th and the 11 th , respectively.

    9. Little Rock Christian Academy

The Warriors escaped Cabot with a four-point come-from-behind victory 28-24. They needed each of their 524 yards on offense to pull off their third victory in four games. Meanwhile, Little Rock Christian’s defense limited Cabot to 67 passing yards. However, the Warriors are back on the drawing board to compete with top-ranked Bryant on Oct. 4.

    10. Rogers

The Mounties ascended to the top ten following their second consecutive victory after their five-point loss to Muskogee. Rogers limited Northside and Sheridan to seven points apiece in both victories while piling up 78 combined. In addition to their offensive onslaught, limiting opponents to 11.75 points per game makes them the sixth-best defense in the state. They will need their defense to remain elite against sixth-ranked Fayetteville on the 4 th .
