    Indiana DB, former Arizona, UCLA transfer DJ Warnell re-enters NCAA Transfer Portal

    Indiana defensive back DJ Warnell has entered the NCAA transfer portal once again, according to On3’s Pete Nakos . Deciding to join a new program after spending time at UCLA and Arizona before joining the Hoosiers this offseason.

    Warnell enters the portal as a graduate transfer following Indiana’s impressive 5-0 start to the season in year one under new head coach Kurt Cignetti . Recording four tackles, one pass breakup, and a sack this season for the Hoosiers as a reserve safety and special teams contributor.

    Warnell played high school football at Dickinson High School in Texas where he was a three-star prospect. Ranked the No. 1,003 overall recruit and the No. 93 cornerback in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

    Out of high school, Warnell signed with UCLA where he spent the first two seasons of his college career. Appearing in 16 games where he recorded 11 tackles, two pass breakups, and one forced fumble against Oregon in 2021. Deciding to transfer out of UCLA but stay within the Pac-12 ahead of the 2022 season and join Arizona.

    With the Wildcats, Warnell played in 24 games and made the first two starts of his college career in 2022. All in all racking up 41 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery during his time in Tucson.

    Warnell is the fourth Indiana player to enter the transfer portal amid the team’s undefeated start to the 2024 season. Joining defensive back Tyrik McDaniel , linebacker Nahji Logan , and wide reciever Donaven McCulley who have all entered or plan to enter the transfer portal. Parting ways from a team that’s currently ranked No. 23 in the latest AP Poll.
