On Wednesday, EA Sports released its first batch of ratings updates to every roster in the country — including LSU. It’s a challenging task with over 13,000 athletes in the game and 134 teams, but CFB25 has been a major success and everyone has been waiting on this update now that we are five weeks into the season.

Here is a rundown of the big name changes across the country, but here we’re focused on LSU, where 18 player had their ratings shifted up or down. EA clearly did not want to make too many massive changes here, but it’s enough for us to look at and discuss.

    Updated ratings

    Position Name New Rating Changes
TE Mason Taylor 92 (+2) OVERALLRATING
WR Kyren Lacy 88 (+1) OVERALLRATING
QB Garrett Nussmeier 87 (+2) OVERALLRATING
WR Chris Hilton Jr. 81 (+2) OVERALLRATING
CB Ashton Stamps 80 (+2) OVERALLRATING
WR Aaron Anderson 80 (+1) OVERALLRATING
    FS Kylin Jackson 79 (+3) OVERALLRATING,POSITION
    FS Austin Ausberry 78 (+4) OVERALLRATING,POSITION
QB Rickie Collins 78 (+1) OVERALLRATING
CB JK Johnson 78 (+1) OVERALLRATING
FS Jordan Allen 78 (-1) OVERALLRATING
    RG Paul Mubenga 75 (+4) OVERALLRATING,POSITION
    RG Kimo Makane’ole 75 (-1) OVERALLRATING
CB PJ Woodland 74 (+5) OVERALLRATING
    DT Ahmad Breaux 74 (+4) OVERALLRATING,POSITION
    LG Bo Bordelon 74 (+1) OVERALLRATING,POSITION
    HB Ju’Juan Johnson 74 (+1) JERSEYNUM,OVERALLRATING,POSITION
    C Coen Echols 72 (-2) OVERALLRATING,POSITION

It would take too long to name all the questions and qualms I have with this list, but Austin Ausberry getting a +4 despite not playing is the biggest surprise. Ahmad Breaux and PJ Woodland got a nice bump, which is deserved. I’m not sure how Chris Hilton went up two without having played a game, but hopefully his speed is up from the low 90s. The same can be said about Paul Mubenga, Kylin Jackson, and Coen Echols, who have hardly been on the field, while Aaron Anderson is having an awesome season and only goes up to an 81.

The craziest part about all of this is that Bradyn Swinson, LSU’s two-time SEC Defensive Player of the week remains at a 77 overall. Caden Durham remains significantly below the other running backs in the room. Kyle Parker remains at a 67(!!). Most of the players at the top are fine, but there are some pretty obvious mistakes when looking at this roster as a whole. Still, the Tigers will be a popular team in the game as the year goes on and people get to use the talent on hand.
