COLUMBUS — Ohio State superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith just keeps drawing more national attention five games into his career.

Five On3 national experts submitted a Heisman Trophy ballot with their top 10 players on it, and they released the results to create a complete ranking using points — 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for second, etc.

Smith earned 24 points this week after another incredible performance, this time coming against Iowa. He’s currently 4th in the On3 Heisman poll.

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty leads the poll. He’s followed by Colorado receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter , Miami quarterback Cam Ward and then Smith.

Here’s what On3 said about Smith.

The freshman standout for Ohio State continues to impress on a weekly basis and this week it was a nasty one-handed touchdown grab that drew the headlines. Smith finished the game against Iowa with four catchees for 89 yards and a touchdown.

The former five-star prospect has now recorded a touchdown in each of Ohio State’s five games this season. He’s got 23 catches for 453 yards and six touchdowns, while also logging two carries for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Jeremiah Smith has a massive opportunity this weekend at Oregon. With another great showing against one of the best teams in the country, he could cement himself as a serious threat to win the Heisman Trophy.

What they’re saying about Jeremiah Smith: ‘It’s stupid how talented he is’

No. 2 Ohio State beat Iowa 35-7 on Saturday to improve to 5-0 this season ahead of the top-three matchup at No. 3 Oregon. One of the headliner of the win over Iowa: freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith , who just keeps making unreal highlight catches and proving that he’s one of the best pass catchers in the country.

The former No. 1 overall recruit from the 2024 recruiting class, Smith was expected to have an impact this year. But this kind of impact? It’s been remarkable to watch him haul in 23 passes for 453 yards and six receiving touchdowns — as well as two carries for 33 yards and a touchdown run. He had two one-handed catches against Michigan State — one for a touchdown — and another one-handed touchdown grab against Iowa.

In this post, we’ll take a look around at what some folks around the national media are saying about Smith’s incredible start to his career.

Both teams have now taken care of business , setting up a high-stakes top-10 matchup in Eugene this weekend.

Yes, the Buckeyes and Ducks will meet as top-10 teams on Saturday in the game of the year so far for the Big Ten. The league’s two best teams will square off for the first time as conference foes, and they’ll do it with the entire country watching. Ohio State moved up to No. 2 in the latest AP Poll after its win over Iowa; Oregon handled Michigan State on Friday night to remain in the top 10. The Ducks are ranked No. 3.
