High school football season across the country have reached their midway point, and some of the nation’s top 2025 quarterbacks are off to great starts. A few others, though, have some work to do to help their teams make it to the playoffs — and hopefully — a deep run at a state championship.

On3 is tracking the numbers for the country’s best passers below:

Note: Florida State QB commit Tramell Jones and Missouri QB commit Matt Zollers are out indefinitely with lower leg injuries, and Georgia QB commit Ryan Montgomery will miss his entire senior season with a torn ACL suffered in Week 1.

    Five-Star Plus+ Bryce Underwood
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 1
    High School : Belleville (Mich.)
    Status : Committed to LSU
    Stats (through 10/11) : 69/93 (74.1%), 1,176 yards, 19 TDs, 1 INT

The nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, regardless of position, Underwood has put on a masterclass early in his senior season. That includes a game-winning 55-yard touchdown with in the final two minutes of their Week 1 game, five touchdown passes in game two, and a six-touchdown performance in the third game that helped him break the Michigan state record for career touchdown passes.

“The 6-foot-4, 214-pounder continues to look like the top physical talent at the position with his elite arm and plus athleticism,” says On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. “Underwood, who turned 17 years old in August, continues to make improvements to his game. He’s sped up his delivery, especially while working the quick game, and has thrown with a great deal of accuracy thus far.”

    Five-Star Plus+ Tavien St. Clair
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 2
    High School : Bellefontaine (Ohio)
Status : Committed to Ohio State
    Stats (through 10/11) : 90/133 (67.7%), 1,504 yards, 20 TDs, 3 INTs

The Ohio State-bound QB has been as impressive as any quarterback this fall, leading Bellefontaine to a 5-2 record while totaling 24 touchdowns in those seven games.

“St. Clair has shown progress early on in his senior season, particularly as a playmaker,” adds Power. “The Ohio State pledge looks to be more comfortable in extending plays when pressured and has done a good job working to find receivers downfield once the play breaks down.”

    5-star Keelon Russell
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 13
    High School : Duncanville (Texas)
    Status : Committed to Alabama
    Stats (through 10/11) : 90/120 (75%), 1,415 yards, 19 TDs, 1 INT

Russell leads one of the top teams in the country at Duncanville and has been nothing short of terrific early in his senior season, leading the Panthers to a 4-0 start. The Alabama pledge is playing the best football of his prep career through three games, says Power. Russell is making good decisions and getting the ball out quickly to his talented supporting cast, which includes Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore .

    5-star Husan Longstreet
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 23
    High School : Centennial (Calif.)
Status : Committed to Texas A&M
    Stats (through 10/11) : 54/86 (62.8%), 824 yards, 10 TDs, 4 INTs

The Huskies have played one of the nation’s toughest schedules so far with games against top-5 teams from California, Utah and Texas. Longstreet seems to be hitting his stride after a tough start due to injury and is one of the nation’s most dynamic passers.

    5-star Julian Lewis
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 24
    High School : Carrollton (Ga.)
    Status : Committed to USC
    Stats (through 10/11) : 123/159 (77.4%), 1,702 yards, 27 TDs, 4 INT

Lewis has been on fire to start his senior season, leading Carrollton to a 7-0 record and No. 1 ranking in Georgia while completing better than 77 percent of his passes.

    5-star Matt Zollers
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 31
    High School : Spring-Ford (Pa.)
    Status : Committed to Missouri
    Stats (through 10/11) : 54/92 (58.7%), 611 yards, 3 TDs, 3 INT (233 rushing yards, 3 TDs)

Zollers has had an up-and-down start to his senior season through the air but has proven to be one of the country’s most dynamic dual-threat QBs. Unfortunately, he suffered a gruesome injury that is likely to cause him to miss the rest of the season.

    4-star Deuce Knight
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 36
High School : George County (Miss.)
    Status : Committed to Auburn
    Stats (through 10/11) : 23/35 (65.7%), 516 yards, 7 TDs (124 rushing yards)

Knight, who recently flipped from Notre Dame to Auburn, was terrific through three games for George County, which currently sits at 3-3. Knight has missed the past three games due to injury, though.

    4-star George MacIntyre
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 61
High School : Brentwood Academy (Tenn.)
    Status : Committed to Tennessee
    Stats (through 10/11) : 120-171 (70.1%), 1,647 yards, 8 TDs, 3 INT

After a rough 2023 season that saw Brentwood finish 2-10, MacIntyre is looking to get back on track in 2024 and has started hitting on all cylinders in recent weeks, including a 14-16 performance on Thursday night.

    4-star Bryce Baker
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 123
High School : East Forsyth (N.C.)
Status : Committed to North Carolina
    Stats (through 10/11) : 101/130 (77.7%), 1,602 yards, 18 TDs, 1 INT

One of the nation’s most accurate passers, Baker has only continued that trend early this season while also contributing four more scores on the ground.

    4-star KaMario Taylor
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 136
High School : Noxubee County (Miss.)
Status : Committed to Mississippi State
    Stats (through 10/1) : 73/128 (57%), 1,085 yards, 9 TDs, 3 INT (518 rushing yards, 7 TDs)

Another dynamic dual-threat QB, Taylor has led Noxbuee County to an early 3-2 start while notching more than 100 yards per game on the ground.

    4-star K.J. Lacey
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 153
    High School : Saraland (Ala.)
    Status : Committed to Texas
    Stats (through 10/11) : 58/98 (59.2%), 926 yards, 13 TDs, 3 INT

Playing for one of Alabama’s top high school programs, Lacey has been lighting up the scoreboard en route to a 6-0 start for Saraland. He did, however, miss the team’s Week 5 game to injury.

    4-star Ty Hawkins
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 179
High School : IMG Academy (Fla.)
    Status : Committed to SMU
    Stats (through 10/11) : 51/77 (66.2%), 766 yards, 9 TDs (236 rushing yards, 5 TDs)

Hawkins transferred to national powerhouse IMG Academy this season and has provided them a huge spark at the quarterback position while leading them to a 5-1 start.

    4-star Carter Smith
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 193
High School : Bishop Verot (Fla.)
    Status : Committed to Michigan
    Stats (through 10/11) : 75/121 (61.9%), 1,009 yards, 11 TDs (435 rushing yards, 10 TDs)

Smith was one of only a few quarterbacks on this list not invited to the Elite 11 Finals, but has shown why Michigan coveted him so much with his ability as a runner and passer — combining for 21 TDs through six games.

    4-star Akili Smith Jr.
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 220
    High School : Lincoln (Calif.)
    Status : Committed to Oregon
    Stats (through 10/11) : 71/123 (57.7%), 1,179 yards, 7 TDs, 5 INT

The son of Ducks legend Akili Smith, Akili Jr. has been on a bit of a roller-coaster with his play as Lincoln sits at 4-2 in the early season.

    4-star Luke Nickel
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 240
    High School : Milton (Ga.)
    Status : Committed to Miami
    Stats (through 10/11) : 92/138 (66.7%) 1,576 yards, 16 TDs, 5 INT

The Miami commit is one of the purest throwers of the football in this class, and while he will need to clean up the interceptions, has led Milton to a 7-0 start. He’s playing the best football of his career this season though, a very good sign as he gets ready to head to Coral Gables.

    4-star Kevin Sperry
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 330
    High School : Guyer (Texas)
    Status : Committed to Oklahoma
    Stats (through 10/11) : 69/132 (50%), 1,006 yards, 12 TDs, 4 INTs

After moving in from Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert over the summer, Sperry has struggled early on to adjust to the level of competition Guyer faces. His team sits at 3-2 after a tough slate to start the season, but will be looking to put together a late run toward playoff time.

    4-star TJ Lateef
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 349
High School : Orange Lutheran (Calif.)
    Status : Committed to Nebraska
    Stats (through 10/11) : 120/170 (70.6%), 1,314 yards, 15 TDs, 4 INT

Lateef leads one of the Golden State’s premier programs and has the Lancers out to a 4-2 start while accounting for 18 scores in six games.

    4-star Jaron Keawe-Sagapolutele
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 276
    High School : Campbell (Hawaii)
    Status : Committed to Cal
    Stats (through 10/11) : 118/155 (76.1%), 2,002 yards, 32 TDs, 2 INT

Keawe-Sagapolutele was one of the biggest surprises at this summer’s Elite 11 Finals, and the Cal commit has been even better this fall at the high school level. While he’s committed to the Golden Bears, other schools are circling, including Oregon.
