With another round of Wisconsin high school football games over, the best teams continue to lord over the Wisconsin On3 Massey Ratings Top 25 list as of Oct. 13. However, as the regular season winds down, the competition gets more challenging, as highlighted by the fact that only two of the top ten teams remain undefeated. Here’s how the state’s best teams fared after the round of games during the second weekend of October.

The On3 Massey Ratings , officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

    1. Mukwonago

The Indians retain the top spot after completing their fifth consecutive victory, dominating Waukesha West in their Classic Eight showdown 49-14. Mason Kelley needed only ten completions to generate five touchdown passes, while Mason Radobicky had 109 rushing yards and a touchdown.

While Mukwonago has Wisconsin high school football’s top-ranked offense, its defense has stepped up after limiting its opponents to 20 points in its last two games. The Indians can claim their eighth victory in nine games if they can survive the fierce challenge from third-ranked Marquette.

    2. Kimberly

After their one-point loss to ninth-ranked Neenah, the Papermakers returned to the win column via a 38-20 count over tenth-ranked Kaukauna. Kimberly blanked the Galloping Ghosts in the fourth quarter to pull away for their sixth victory in seven games.

Braedon Ellefson led Wisconsin’s third-best offense with 213 passing yards and two touchdowns. He also added 41 rushing yards and a touchdown. Kimberly can continue their winning ways against Appleton North in their next match.

    3. Marquette University

The Hilltoppers are third after a dominating performance against 16 th -ranked Hamilton 50-10. Mason Steinhoff threw for 294 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Tommy Novotny punished the Chargers defense with 223 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Peyton Roby-Brown also had a sensational game, tallying 206 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Marquette will need all the momentum they can get as they proceed to their highly-awaited showdown against top-ranked Mukwonago this week.

    4. New Richmond

The Tigers earned their first shutout victory of the 2024 Wisconsin high school football season. In addition to blanking Wisconsin Rapids, Nick Stellrecht completed five touchdown passes, three of which went to Aiden Eckert.

Braden Yeske and Ethan Panek each had a rushing touchdown, helping New Richmond maintain their undefeated record after seven games. The Tigers should have no problems improving their record to 9-0 against Superior.

    5. Franklin

The Sabers completed a one-sided victory against Indian Trail, wherein Joey Kallay completed four touchdown passes. Meanwhile, Carter Schiek had a sensational outing, tallying 154 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Franklin’s defense is also in a groove, allowing only seven points in each of their last three games. The Sabers can score their ninth consecutive victory versus Horlick.

    6. Oconomowoc

After losing to top-ranked Mukwonago on the road, the Racoons defended their home field against 17 th -ranked Muskego 21-7. Alex Seraphine had 136 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Cole Schwefel added a receiving touchdown for Oconomowoc.

Meanwhile, limiting the Warriors to seven points improved their defensive ranking among Wisconsin high school football teams to seventh place. The Racoons can start another winning streak by defeating Pewaukee this week.

    7. Arrowhead

Brookfield East was no match for Arrowhead, especially when the Warhawks outscored them in the second half, 22-0. Vance Holtz had 141 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, and three touchdowns. Jacob Siner was also a thorn for the Spartans, tallying 180 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Arrowhead’s defense swarmed Brookfield East with four sacks, two courtesy of Brendan Foley. The Warhawks can extend their winning streak to three games with another victory over Kettle Moraine.

    8. Waunakee

The Warriors extended their winning streak to six games after a shutout victory against DeForest. Vance Johnson threw for two touchdown passes, while Sullivan Scadden added 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

After winning six of their first seven games, Waunakee has the fifth-best defense and fourth-best offense in Wisconsin high school football. They can improve to 7-1 by defeating Milton in their next game.

    9. Neenah

The Rockets’ most impressive performance in their last four games was limiting Fond Du Lac to seven points. Neenah shut down the Cardinals’ offense after allowing them to score the first touchdown while scoring 25 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Grant Dean had 149 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Evan Vanevenhoven added two rushing touchdowns. Neenah can attain a 7-2 record by defeating Hortonville in a match wherein On3’s Massey Ratings gave them a 100-percent winning chance.

    10. Kaukauna

The Galloping Ghosts’ six-game winning streak ended at Kimberly’s hands. Despite that loss, some of their players are worth commending. Bron Schaefer threw for two touchdowns and added 36 rushing yards. Meanwhile, Sam Weber and Logan Arft each had a sack.

However, Aiden Reardon led the way for Kaukauna’s run game with 103 rushing yards and a touchdown. Kaukauna can erase this loss with a road game victory over Appleton East.
