“Wildcats” by HBMont is here and it’s beautiful. No, seriously. We warned you yesterday that Lamont Butler was dropping a music video at midnight and it exceeded every expectation imaginable — certainly among Kentucky players releasing their own songs.

Terrence Jones taught you about Kentucky and YKDV Bossman Fat juggled a rap career while playing cornerback for Mark Stoops. Now, Butler has dropped his debut single, “Wildcats.” And it’s a song about, well, the Wildcats.

The San Diego State transfer goes through the entire roster dropping witty bars about every one of his teammates — even the walk-ons — while talking about his experience transferring to Kentucky for his final season of college basketball. Oh, and NIL talk. Lots and lots of NIL talk.

Let’s just break this thing down line by line, starting with a play on Otega Oweh ‘s name.

“Rich man, I just bought my grandma a Margiela cane. Now I’m at Kentucky one year to do omega things. Time to run it back one more time I want some better rings, have a banner that’s still here when I’m Oweh (away) like Otega’s name.”

Then, a run of magical bars talking about Kerr Kriisa spitting game with the ladies, Travis Perry ‘s shooting mechanics and Trent Noah ‘s Harlan roots.

“Mont, how you know they still mad? I’m on to better things. Amari and BG on the rim and I bet they hang. I don’t even have to shoot my shot, I just catch and bang. Outlet, we running up and down the floor, you can’t press us gang. Man, I can’t wait to play in Rupp, I just count the timer. All the girls come and say, ‘Hi Kerr!’ like some mountain climbers. Too many people say they got motion, it’s a thousand liars. Lil Travis jumper got good mechanics like he mountain tires. If you don’t know the gang, yeah, we finna open eyes. Might pull up to Harlan if Trent Noah guy.”

How about a Mark Pope shoutout? He is the best, after all.”

“Big Kentucky army, hell yeah, it’s time to mobilize. On the team everybody got gifts like when Oprah live. Coach Pope the best out, no kizzy. GOAT things, no Billy. Get up with me, Meek Milly. I just bought a new whip, Big Carr up in Philly. People ask me who the best Butler is, who with me?”

NIL talk enters the picture with very practical tax questions before Butler discusses his desire to go to the NBA and play for the Los Angeles Lakers. Oh, and shoutout UK Rifle Team.

“Yeah, I’m messing with this NIL bread, but what’s the taxing thing? Every year it feel like they Robinson on some Jaxson things. Working in the gym so I can go sign a max and things. Why you stay out on the shooter? I be racking things. Whole team full of shooters like the rifle team. Always rocking with double A (Ansley Almonor) like the minor leagues. Y’all gonna have to run this song back to decipher these. Bars so cold feeling like I’m in that cryo thing.”

Let’s wrap this up here, Butler going through his daily itinerary and praising Koby Brea for being a knockdown shooter. And how about Grant Darbyshire getting a name-drop?

“Day one I shoot a laser, days two, three and four, I try to spend my downtime getting paper. Days five through nine I’m working, trying to be a Laker. Day 10 I’m back to sparking shots, Koby Brea. Moreno Valley all the way up to Kentucky, put my block on. Now it’s gonna be All Eyes On Me, get my Pac on. Walk to the Lord to Grant a wish, like the walk-on. Time to sit down on me, put the locks on. Mont, how you with the Wildcats? I’m a lucky man. For sure going crazy on the court and got dummy bands. BBN going crazy — ahh. BBN going crazy, I ain’t mean to interrupt (enter Rupp) like Kentucky fans.”

What fans care about most, though, comes to close out the video: Butler’s ultimate desire in blue and white.

“No. 9 on the way,” he says.

As Butler makes clear, you’re probably going to run through it a couple of times to catch all of his references, puns and double entendres. More importantly, you’ll want to see all of the player and coach cameos throughout the music video, combining what we saw at Big Blue Madness and what the team recorded behind closed doors.

It’s fun. We’re HBMont fans over here at KSR HQ.

Then you can compare it to Butler’s Big Blue Madness performance:

Who is going to be the first record label to sign the Kentucky point guard to an NIL deal?
