On Saturday, he attended Kentucky versus Vanderbilt in Lexington. On Monday, he led the Buffalo Bills in rushing and receiving yards in a 23-20 win over the New York Football Jets on Monday Night Football. Now, Ray Davis is the talk of the NFL following his breakout rookie performance in primetime.

Davis carried the ball 20 times for 97 yards and caught three of Josh Allen ‘s passes for a team-high 55 yards, including a ball Allen threw with his back against the end zone to Davis at the 50. The long reception set up Buffalo’s go-ahead touchdown in the first half.

Filling in for injured Pro Bowl running back James Cook, Davis seized the opportunity as the Bills’ second back, behind Ty Johnson. Johnson, the Monday night starter, got four touches, while Davis became the first rookie since 1986 to lead the Bills in rushing and receiving yards in the same game. A new story on BuffaloBills.com reads, “Everybody loves Ray Davis.”

After his MVP night, Davis sat down with Scott Van Pelt for a late-night conversation on SportsCenter. The former Wildcat thanked his teammates and Buffalo’s “next man up mentality” for his performance. The cowboy hat is a nice touch.
