After missing the last two weeks of College GameDay , Lee Corso is back in the fold for this weekend’s trip to Austin ahead of Georgia at Texas .

During an appearance on SportsCenter where Kirk Herbstreit previewed the biggest games in Week 8, Corso crashed the party, receiving a raucous ovation. He had to keep the good times going, so he told Herbstreit he’s picking the Longhorns on Saturday, adding even more joy to the crowd.

Then, Corso took it one step further — he doubled down on his national championship pick , telling Herbstreit that Texas is winning the national title this season.

Prior to the first College GameDay of the 2024 campaign, Corso predicted Georgia , Ohio State , Texas and Notre Dame would be the final four remaining in the College Football Playoff, ironically picking the the Bulldogs and Longhorns advancing to the national title game.

He ultimately decided that Texas will win this year’s national championship, and he hit all of Austin with a reminder that the pick hasn’t changed heading into Week 8.

The pick has aged well for Lee Corso, and it’s looking better and better with each passing week. When he puts on that Texas mascot head later this afternoon, the reaction should be incredible, as long as he doesn’t change his mind over the next couple of hours.

More on ESPN College GameDay, Celebrity Guest Picker in Austin

Meanwhile, ESPN College GameDay will have a unique guest picker for this week’s action, with former Texas golfer and current PGA Tour superstar Scottie Scheffler set to make the picks on this week’s show.

Scheffler is an excellent choice, a widely recognizable figure with obvious ties to this week’s featured matchup: Georgia vs. Texas. He golfed at Texas, where he had some remarkable success, before turning pro in 2018. Since then, all Scheffler has done is win.

Scheffler has now won 13 events on the PGA Tour as a professional, including a number of majors. He has won the Masters twice, including this year’s edition. Needless to say, when it comes to having a championship mentality, he’s up there with anyone in sport.

And both Georgia and Texas are hoping to demonstrate that championship mentality with College GameDay in town.
