When the Notre Dame football program travels to New Jersey next Saturday to face the No. 24 Navy Midshipmen (6-0), they will do so as a two-touchdown favorite.

Circa Sports released its betting lines for Week 9 of the College Football season on Sunday. The Fighting Irish (6-1) opened as a 14-point favorite over the Mids. The over/under total is 55½ points.

Coach Marcus Freeman’s program has fared well against the spread this season, covering it in five of seven games, including the last three. As for the over/under total, Irish games have gone “under” four times. Last Saturday’s 31-13 win over Georga Tech finished six points shy of the over.

Navy is also outstanding against the spread, covering in five of six games. The only one that didn’t hit was Week 1 against Bucknell. Its games have exceeded the points total every week.

This Saturday’s game will kick off at Noon ET on ESPN. It will be played at MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Jets and New York Giants.

Notre Dame Quote of the Weekend

“This dude on the quarterback counter is a freight train. You’re talking about a guy who has every right to probably be a little hesitant — our most athletic guy. He could care less. He is a huge team glory guy. He’s not going to say much. He’s not going to complain at all if he gets a concussion from hitting these linebackers head-to-head. He doesn’t care.

“If that’s what he’s called to do, he’s going to do it. So, a lot of respect for him. Usually, he doesn’t get enough credit for that, so I’m glad you brought that up.”
