Protest signs posted near flashing traffic signals at First Corridor
A special meeting was held on early Monday morning at Hiawatha City Hall, where a decision was made to set the traffic lights located at the First Corridor--located at the Intersection between Oregon Street and U.S. Highway 73--back into flashing caution mode at 9 a.m. Stop signs were also installed. As of this writing, the traffic signals flash the red and yellow lights as they did previously before they were reactivated to normal mode back on Wednesday, May 22.

Heartland Park auction extended by one week
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The auction for Heartland Motorsports Park has been extended. The auction was originally set to end July 17, but the bidding site has been updated to show a July 24 deadline. United Country - Heritage Brokers & Auctioneers, the brokers running the auction, tell 13 NEWS additional information about easements on the property was clarified toward the end of that original period. They thought it appropriate to give bidders another week to assess.
