Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan held a ribbon cutting for new Early Learning Center
MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - The Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan held a ribbon cutting today for its new Early Learning Center. The new center will serve kids from 6 weeks to 5 years old. This adds to the other 13 locations across Manhattan and Wamego, which serve elementary to 18-year-olds. There are 9 classrooms and the club is licensed for 156 kids who will participate in fun activities to prepare them for school. Club members said this facility is crucial to the region.

Blue green algae warning is in effect for the Gathering Pond
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has placed the Gathering Pond at Milford Lake under a blue green algae warning. According to the Milford Lake Corps of Engineers that means water is unsafe for humans and animals, visitors should avoid all contact with the water, DO NOT let pets eat dried algae or drink contaminated water and if fish are caught, clean well with potable water and eat fillets only.
