Lawrence Municipal Court to accept $15 of school supplies to cover $50 of fines
For a second year running, Lawrence Municipal Court is holding a school supply drive that will allow people to pay off $50 in fines with $15 worth of school supplies. “Participants can purchase $15 worth of new school supplies from the approved supply list below and bring them to the Lawrence Municipal Court along with the receipt to get $50 credited towards a traffic infraction and/or parking fines,” according to a Friday news release from the city.

Fort Riley man hospitalized after car strikes pole
RILEY COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 8:30p.m. Thursday in Riley County. A Nissan sedan driven by 22-year-old Jason Mendoza of Fort Riley left the roadway and collided with a pole at the corner of Fort Riley Blvd and Richards Drive, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

K-State online services working despite worldwide software issues
K-State is reporting that their online software is working this morning even with the on-going CrowdStrike software issues that are going on worldwide. In a campus-wide email, director of news and communication services Michelle Geering reported that university operations are running normal at this time and the university is only getting reports of computer by computer issues.
MEDIA RELEASE – Recovered Stolen Vehicle & Warrant Arrests
On Thursday morning, July 18, 2024, at 6:41 AM, a law enforcement officer with the Pittsburg Police Department observed a vehicle that was not displaying any state issued license plates turn onto Amber Drive. The Officer turned his patrol vehicle around to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle pulled into the driveway of 1011 Amber Drive. The driver exited the vehicle and quickly entered the residence and closed the door behind him. Further investigation into the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen out of Joplin, Missouri.
